This module has helped me think about student-centered assessment in the following ways….
Students should be the center of our assessment focus. As we write assessment we need to gear them so that students are successful on them. Often a student-centered assessment isn't a traditional paper and pencil test. Truly having student centered examples might even mean having several assessments for a unit so that students can chosee which way they can best show the knowledge they have gained. Assessments aren't to see if we can stump students but to see if they have learned the topics we have covered. Often a student-centered assessment is based on a project or other way for students to show their knowledge. Rubrics and checklists are a big part of student-centered assessments becuase then students know what they are working towards and how to succeed.

How can technology be used most effectively to support and assess student learning?
Technology can be used effectively to support and assess student learning in various ways. On-line surveys are one way that student learning can be assessed. Also templates can be written in programs such as Kidspiration and students can add information to do that. Student assessments can be any item that is evaluated. Using a rubric is a great way to do that. To be used effectively the technology needs to be guided and overseen.
