This module has helped me think about student-centered assessment in the following ways….
Students should be the center of our assessment focus. As we write assessment we need to gear them so that students are successful on them. Often a student-centered assessment isn't a traditional paper and pencil test. Truly having student centered examples might even mean having several assessments for a unit so that students can chosee which way they can best show the knowledge they have gained. Assessments aren't to see if we can stump students but to see if they have learned the topics we have covered. Often a student-centered assessment is based on a project or other way for students to show their knowledge. Rubrics and checklists are a big part of student-centered assessments becuase then students know what they are working towards and how to succeed.
